Frequently Asked Questions

Q: I don’t even know where to start! How do I know which class is right?

A: No problem! We’ve got a blog post right HERE answering that very question!

Q: I haven’t exercised in years, can I even do Pilates and/or GYROTONIC® Method classes?

A: Yes, absolutely! Both Pilates and the GYROTONIC® Method are adaptable to EVERY body and are wonderful movement modalities for everyone from non-movers to elite athletes. Start by scheduling a private or duet session and watch your body evolve!

Q: Do men do Pilates and/or the GYROTONIC® Method?

A: Yes, absolutely! Both movement modalities were developed by men, for themselves, for other men, and for women. Many elite male athletes, from golfers to basketball and tennis players, do Pilates and/or GYROTONIC® exercises to maintain strength and mobility in order to take their sport to the next level.

Q: What should I wear to class?

A: Comfortable clothes of breathable materials that allow you to move through a full range of motion of your arms and legs. Most women wear yoga pants or leggings with an athletic top. Men may be comfortable in shorts or running shorts with compression shorts underneath. (Please remember that many exercises involve raising your legs into the air.) Some people prefer to also wear socks or sticky socks.

Q: Can I pay for my class and schedule my next class when I show up for class?

A: No. All classes need to be pre-paid through on-line scheduling. This allows sessions to be the full 55 minutes without losing time for scheduling and payment.

Q: I can’t make my class tomorrow, can I cancel it?

A: Yes, please do!

But keep in mind our non-negotiable 24-hour cancellation policy for both classes and private sessions. All class cancellations must be done via the scheduling software, accessible either via this website under the “scheduling” tab, or at www.mindbody.com. If you are canceling your class within the 24-hour window, it is a late cancellation, and you have forfeited your class. However, if someone from the waitlist can take your place in class, your class will be returned to your account.

Private sessions can also be cancelled via the scheduling software. It is much, much less likely that a late canceled private session can be re-booked in such short notice, but if that happens, your private session will be placed into your account for use next time.

Thank you for respecting our business by respecting our cancellation policy. This business would not be viable without it.

Q: What does it mean that the studio is fragrance-free?

A: The Movement Studio is a fragrance-free environment and colognes and/or perfumes and/or other scented toiletry items should not be worn into the studio. Some clients and instructors are very sensitive to smell and may suffer allergies or headaches.

Q: What happens if I’m late to my class?

A: Sessions begin on time and end on time. If you arrive late, you may join the class in session, but your session will not be pro-rated. Please do not show up more than 15 minutes late to a class. You will have missed the warm-up and your body will not be as adequately prepared for the remainder of class. If you are more than 15 minutes late for your private session, your teacher will assume you are not coming and may leave. Your session will be forfeited.

Q: What happens if I forget to show up for my class?

A: If you fail to show up for your scheduled session, you have forfeited your class.

Q: Can my spouse/companion/friend/pet wait in the studio during my session?

A: No pets are allowed in the studio. It is studio policy that your spouse/companion/friend needs to wait for you elsewhere if you are taking part in a class. Other participants in your class may be self-conscious with spectators and it is imperative that the studio maintain an atmosphere free from intimidation and/or social discomfort.

If you are doing a private session, your companion may stay in the studio, quietly.
